Meet the Team
Our small team of staff is experienced and dedicated to the wellbeing of the children. We have a range of interests to bring to the children, from music to science to outdoors resources. When necessary, we also have an experienced group of supply staff to provide extra adults to care for the children.
Sarah Smith- Manager
After completing my NNEB, I began my career with Nannying (in which I held positions in Switzerland, Hong Kong and England!) before settling down locally with my own family of 3 children where I became a Childminder. After 11 years of childminding, I extended my passion of Early Years and took the Deputy Manager position at Chedworth Pre-School (January 2016) and then in September 2018, I happily took the reins of the Manager’s position.
I grew up in Chedworth and attended St. Andrew’s Primary School, so I am deeply passionate to support and develop Chedworth Pre-School for the future generations.
I am a fully qualified Level 3 Forest School Leader and so I enjoy being outdoors with the children, whatever the weather – there is nothing more liberating than splashing through big puddles on a rainy day!! I also enjoy my weekly challenge of creating ways of offering play to the children, enriching their learning and development specifically in the outdoors environment as with our indoors environment our Forest School is also a ‘Pack away’ style too!
I feel very privileged to be trusted with every parent’s most precious possession along with watching each child to develop and flourish through Pre-School.
Sarah Richards – Deputy Manager
After working for 20 years in the banking sector, I decided this career was no longer for me! I took a few years off and during this time, I was offered a few hours per week working at a Pre-School close to where I lived. Those few hours expanded into full-time work as did my love of working with the Pre-Schoolers discovering the joys of watching them grow and develop.
I stayed at the Pre-School for 7 years, during this time completing my NVQ Level 3 (eventually becoming Manager and running a Creche!) With the time for a fresh challenge, I was offered the position of Deputy Manager and SENCO here at Chedworth Pre-School – I have discovered that this is the most wonderful place to work, I have found the most caring colleagues, along with being able to enjoy such a fabulous outdoor space! Nothing better than being able to be outside in the sunshine!
My role is to assist with the smooth running of the Pre-School along with working with the parents to assist children with additional needs are receiving the best support possible – supporting children with additional needs early on makes a big improvement upon their outcomes in their later years.
Jennifer Lowe- Nursery Assistant
I joined Chedworth Pre-School in 2018 and everyday has been fantastic! We have a wonderful outdoor ethos and create ever changing environments to challenge the children to explore. To watch the children, grow and develop and to be a part of that is truly a blessing, I love my work and take great pride in creating the best environment we can for each and every child.
I completed my Level 3 Early Years Educator NVQ in January 2020 and have gone on to look into additional educational needs and the importance of play in children as further training, as these are area’s I have special interests in. I have a rural background and so have spent lots of time outdoors exploring with my own children and it makes me so happy to be able to do this with the children I work with too. I have many years of experience within childcare, so finally achieving an official qualification after having my own children was a particular milestone for me.
Chedworth Pre-School is a nurturing, supportive and stimulating setting that both my children have attended and to now be able to give back this experience to others is so rewarding. There is nothing better than watching children blossom into their individual personalities and I am proud to share this experience with them and their families.
Hannah Franklin – Nursery Assistant
I am currently volunteering here at Chedworth Pre-School to complete my Level 3 Early Years Educator NVQ. Childcare has always been my passion and now that I am a Mother myself (with my son attending the Pre-School!) I can formalise my learning and practice from Nannying.
I appreciate the importance of giving each and every child the best start in life, watching the children develop and grow is a very rewarding feeling.
